Kansas City’s longest-running sporting event returns next week

(KANSAS CITY, Kan.) – The 82nd annual KC Golden Gloves Regional Championships return April 6-8 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. First bell is at 7 p.m. each night.


Michael Spinks, Olympic gold medalist and former Heavyweight Champion of the World, will be doing a free autograph/picture session from 6-6:45 p.m. Saturday night.


Two-time U.S. Olympic Trials Champion and current USA Boxing National Champion Cam F. Awesome will be competing and defending his KC Golden Gloves title in the heavyweight division.


Champions from this year’s tournament will go on to represent Kansas City in May at the Golden Gloves National Tournament in Lafayette, Louisiana. The KC team has finished in the top 10 of 30 teams in three of the last four years and was national runner-up in 2013, our highest finish to date.


Tickets for this year’s KC Golden Gloves start at as low as $10 and can be purchased at the door.

KC Golden Gloves is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that has been serving the youth of Kansas City since 1936. KC Golden Gloves supports boxing clubs in KC area through equipment donations, travel expenses, training coaches and officials, and providing scholarships.
